Fréjus Zoo has been welcoming visitors since 1971.
Set in typically Mediterranean surroundings, the 50-acre park is home to 110 wild animal species and is open all year round. Since 2013, the Zoo has issued plastic cards to visitors with annual membership.
The Badgy plastic card desk printer provides the ideal package for the job.
For the Zoo’s most loyal fans, Guy Masquefa, the Zoo’s director, offers a reduced rate for year-round admission.
Annual passes and guest passes used to be printed on card, then laminated, a process which Guy Masquefa admits was tedious and did not provide quality results.
In December 2013, a friend told Mr. Masquefa about the Badgy desk printer, a system for printing instant plastic cards on the spot. Badgy offers a one-stop solution for issuing badges and comes with personalization software, a library of card designs and a consumables kit.
Thanks to the Badgy printer, the Zoo’s membership passes are more professional-looking and durable, and have saved Zoo staff design and printing time.
The passes have a straightforward graphic design, no bar code or magnetic stripe and are personalized with the member’s name, photo and validity date.
“Badgy is ideal for the Zoo,” says Mr. Masquefa. “Our card-printing requirements are simple and low volume. The printer is compact and easy to use.”
Fréjus Zoo currently uses its Badgy printer to issue around 200 plastic membership passes each year.
