Office-Cards offer to update. What should I do?

When an update is available for Office-Cards, the following message will be displayed automatically when opening your file (if you have a live connection to the Internet).

We strongly recommend you to download all suggested updates.

What are the guidelines for using images?

Be careful when stretching images. Even if it is possible for background images, it is better to stick roughly to the length and width proportions of a card.

How to capture pictures from a webcam or digital camera?

With Office Cards, you can display photos/pictures on badges that have a picture zone. You can capture these pictures from photo-taking device such as a webcam, a digital camera or a scanner.

Configuration
Picture acquisition from a snapshot requires the following configuration:

  •     Click “Settings
  •     In the Office photo folder field, click the “…” button and browse to select the folder connected to your device. This is the folder where your webcam stores all snapshots. This information is available from your webcam configuration tool. This folder can either be located on the storage card of your device, or on your hard drive.
  •     Make sure that this information is stated in the dialog box, or an error message will be displayed as you first attempt to acquire an image.

The photo folder can also be configured from the Snapshot menu. The following windows will then be displayed.

Photo aquisition

Photo acquisition is performed via the snapshot menu (see next).
If a picture device (digital camera, webcam or scanner) is linked to your computer, you can instantly trigger the picture acquisition process by enabling Snapshot.

Windows switches to wait mode when a snapshot is initiated. You have a response time of 10 seconds available to do the shot.

This message will appear if this period expires.

Note that this response time is quite short and we therefore recommend that you have your digital camera/webcam connected to your computer and ready to use.

How to upload pictures from your hard drive?

You can upload pictures from files stored on your PC (hard drive, external hard drive, USB storage device, etc.)

To insert a picture, use the “Browse disk” feature (see below).

This menu opens Windows Explorer and lets you select the picture file to add to your badge design.

By default, a copy of each inserted picture will be saved to the folder that hosts your Badge file (name_of_you_file.xls).

If you would like to change the picture storage file, click Settings then Office photo folder. This field enables you to indicate the path to the file that hosts all pictures.

Select Tools > Options > Color > Select color to be modified > Modify > select you requested color > OK

To select this color:
Settings > Select the item to be modified > Color > The new color appears in the color palette.

What are fixed and variable zones?

Office Cards badges display different objects that define either fixed or variable zones on the badge.

  • A variable zone hosts information sourced from the data entry form. Variable areas let you display different data from one badge to the other. For example : Surname, First Name, ID picture, etc.

  • A fixed zone host unvarying data, not sourced from the data entry area. Such data is common to all badges printed from this template. For example: Corporate/Organization name, logo, expiration date, etc.

All objects, whether fixed or variable, are pre-arranged on a template and are part of the design layout. They can be hidden or configured. You can also add/delete objects. You can delete any fixed zone. Meanwhile, you can only delete the variable zones that you have created.

It is not possible to add a variable image. If you need this feature for your badge, please select a template which comes with a variable picture, from our Website or from the CD-Rom supplied with Badgy.

What is Office-Cards?

Office-Cards is a card editing application that lets you create and personalize your own badges from templates provided with the Badgy solution.

In fact, Badgy allows you to download many different badge templates (for schools, companies, charities, sports clubs, etc.) from the www.badgy.com website. These templates are provided in Microsoft Excel (.xls) format.

Office-Cards is an application developed directly from Excel which allows you to modify (move, reduce/increase, replace, change the font, the color, etc.) and/or hide features of the selected badge (background, title, photo, text), as well as adding or deleting features. You can delete all types of fixed zones. However, you can only delete the variable zones that you have created yourself.

Then you just need to enter or copy the information into Excel before printing individual named badges (first name, surname, membership no., etc.).

This application also lets you insert individual photos into the badges, from a database, or directly from a webcam or digital camera.

Which versions of Excel is the Office-Cards application compatible with?

Office-Cards is compatible with the 32-bit version of Excel only, for versions 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010, and Excel 2013.

Which software applications are compatible with Badgy?

The "Badgy" solution consists of a Badgy printer and the Office-Cards software. This software uses Microsoft Excel (compatible with versions 2002, 2003, 2007, 2010, and 2013 (32-bit)). You need to have Excel installed on your computer to use it.
No installation is required: simply download a template from our website www.badgy.com (card from the CD that comes with the printer) . You can then access this software directly.

You can also use most of your printing and office tools because the Badgy printer uses a driver which is compatible with Windows and Mac computers. If you do, you should set your document to the card format(dimensions 86x54 mm / 3.370x2.125 inches – ISO CR80).

Improve your efficiency and also discover Evolis Badge Studio, the new software for creating and personalizing cards and badges. An ergonomic, user-friendly interface to create your badges simply and easily. If you use Office Card software, download Evolis Badge Studio for free.

Is it possible to use Badgy with other softwares than Office-Cards?

If you’re a Mac user, if you already have your own card design software, or if you need to use a document already created in Microsoft Word for example, you may want to use an alternative to Office-Cards in order to design your ID cards.

Badgy is supplied as an ‘all in one’ offer, but the printer can print documents designed in a large number of applications and softwares.

For instance, several Windows applications allow documents to be printed (for example the tools in Microsoft’s Office suite, i.e. MS-Word, MS-Access, Ms-Excel, MS-PowerPoint).
To gain familiarity with the layout of a card and configuring its formatting and printing, we suggest the following example.

E.g. How to set up and print a badge in Microsoft® Word

  •     After having set the Evolis printer as the default:
  •     Start the MS-Word application
  •     Click on the File in the menu bar, then on Page Setup
  •     The Paper tab has a Paper Size option, select CR80 Card
  •     In the Margins tab, set all margins to 0.05’’ (1.4 mm), then in the Orientation section, select Landscape.
  •     Close the window by clicking OK.
  •     Your Word window should now look like this:

  • You are ready to customize your card by adding the various items that go to makeup a card (Logo and Illustration, ID photo, barcode, etc.)
  • Once ready, click on File and then on Print.

How do I choose which badge to download?

Office-Cards lets you fully modify your badges: you can hide all the features and/or add fixed and variable zones, to suit your needs.

Any badge from our card library can be adapted to your needs. You just need to select a badge you like using the categories menu or by doing a keyword search.

You can also download the "Badge Wizard" to help you create your own design from scratch.

How to download and use Badgy card templates?

From the Badgy website

Downloading Badgy card templates requires a personal user account.

To sign up for an online account, you first need your printer’s serial number (format similar to B81693149), located on the ID card of your printer. Then go to www.badgy.com.

How to save a badge template and new data?
